Website or a blogspot

Many starters who are planning to earn money online, think on where should they start? Whether they should create a blog or should go for a regular website. Both of these types have their own pros and cons. But what is the biggest difference in them?

In my opinion, there are two major differences.

First, its easier to get traffic to a blog as compared to a regular websites. This is due to the pinging facility of the blog softwares (like Wordpress) which pings various search engines and other ‘blog post accumulator’ websites. This brings “some” traffic to your blog even if you don’t have a single back-link pointing to it. This facility is not there in the case of a website. You need to have back-links to your site so that search engines can find you and rank you appropriately.

The second difference is that that you can always take that long break from your work in case of the website, as it may not need that much regular updates. But in the case of a blog, you have to update it regularly. If you take that sort of long breaks (I am telling you from my experience, ha ha ha!) from your blog, people are going to get angry. Not only that, the traffic from search engines also drops, since search engines expect new posts from the blogs once a while.

So what is the best choice for you as a starter?

Want to earn through blogging

I started blogging about 9 months ago, back then I didn’t even knew what to blog about, but then my cousin told me that I could earn uber amounts of cash via blogging…and I learned that it was not an easy task for a newbie freelance blogger like myself to be a Pro-blogger ( which is Professional blogger getting paid online) so it’s not only about blogging about what I like, it’s about thinking of ways how I can earn by blogging and actually having fun doing it.

Well first of all I started first on focusing on the important part… What is a blog? we all know what a blog is… we could say that it is a collection of your thoughts and ideas written in a conversational manner on every article that has a bit of your personality stamped in it.

What to blog about? depends on what the type of blog you want to represent… if you want your blog to technical then write about technical stuffs write about Windows Vista or Firefox, or about new gadgets and newly discovered technologies or a gaming blog then write about new releases of games new, cheats, walkthroughs and such on the hottest consoles on the market such as Wii, PS3, PS2, Xbox 360,Nintendo DS, PSP and such.

And then focus on making people come to your site and read your articles which is better than earning money through blogging. I was asked a question how to earn through blogs, well, based on my experience I started blogging through Payperpost, Blogsvertise , which are good for startup bloggers (but remember your blogsite must have at least 10 posts or more to be accepted) and Sponsoredreviews. Check these sites out if you get accepted you can earn as much as $10-20 per post.

Aside from that getting a break by being asked to blog at Xboxdream, PCExtreme, Gadzooki, and Blog-Tutorials which has been a steady flow income and I’m thankful for that.

Earning through blogging is very hard and may take a while if you don’t have the commitment and time, you won’t last a month just blogging for a living… after all success doesn’t come overnight. I wanted to quit blogging dozens of times because I wasn’t earning enough to live a normal life… hehehe…there are lots of ways to earn via blogging… here are some on them.

So here are the options you can choose to earn via blogging
Payperpost
blogsvertise
Sponsoredreviews
Blogtoprofit

Aside from blogging you can earn via Affiliates and Ads
Google Adsense and referrals
Text-link Ads
Amazon Affiliates

or you can have a blogging career by applying at these sites

Manage ads with adsense

google AdSense, few days back added a new feature in their AdSense program for all publishers. You may be knowing about this feature from a coming soon status message in your AdSense dashboard or from a sneak peek previous post from the AdSense Blog or from a Breaking news post from Problogger still here is a quick definition for it

This new ad management feature means that your ad unit settings (such as colors and channels) for new AdSense for content ad units will be saved in your AdSense account every time you generate ad code. Then, if you'd like to change any of these settings in the future, all you do is make the update within your account -- you'll no longer need to manually replace the ad code on all of your pages. For instance, you can quickly change the borders of all your 300x250 medium rectangles from red to blue with just a few mouse clicks.

As a blogger I think the key lies in experimenting with your Ad slots. For even changing the border of an Ad unit, I had to generate new ad code, parse it and then finally add the script to my XML template. This was a bit time consuming and a hectic process. This feature just makes the same results available with a few lesser mouse clicks.

I found this feature interesting and gave it one of my blog's slot.I always thought that perfectly blended ads performed much better than one having a distinct border and when I tried border for one day, the results amazed me(I only changed the colour pal latte). I saw a good spike in CTR and CPM.

Concluding it...
Likes
A short and simple process for changing the look of the Ad unit
Import feature which allowed me to import ads from other channels.
Preview Ad feature.
A bit short script :)
Dislikes
It permits to change the colours of the Ad unit but not it's size.
Once the script is uploaded, it takes around 10 minutes for the Ad slot to deliver Ads.
I will be giving more slots to this new feature soon and I recommend you to do the same and experiment
