But in the case of a blog, you have to update it regularly. If you take that sort of long breaks (I am telling you from my experience, ha ha ha!) from your blog, people are going to get angry. Not only that, the traffic from search engines also drops, since search engines expect new posts from the blogs once a while.

So you signed up for an affiliate program, and dreamt of untold riches that comes simply with having a website. Until you got your first cheque, that is.

Earning an income from advertising on your website is often proclaimed as The Dream To End All Dreams where you earn even while you sleep (which is true). All you have to do is to set up a website and the money starts flowing in, right? As many new web designers have found out, it doesn't work quite so smoothly. Very often, the reality check comes when you get your first month's cheque.

Here are some tips to help you increase your takings from your advertisements.

1. Time

Before you jump out of that window, you have to realise that, like many things, these things take time. In general, for many webmasters starting out with their first affiliate program, their first month's income is usually rather pithy. This is normal. The income improves as you fine-tune your site and the advertisements and banners you use.

2. Targetting Your Advertisements

There's really no short cut to this. Unless you signed up for one of those programs that will rotate ads on your site automatically, you should try to fit the banners and links you display on your site to the audience that you expect your site to attract.

For example, if your site is about education, put up advertisements and banners that would interest people who come to your site. Think about it - education sites would interest at least three types of people: kids, educators (teachers) and parents. Choose advertisements that would interest them. Note that this does not mean that you exclude all other types of advertisements. Some ads are general enough to appeal to many types of audience.

I know I mentioned this in my other article, "How to Make Money from Your Website" at http://www.thesitewizard.com/archive/makemoney.shtml but taking the effort to do this can really make the difference between the success of your advertising and a miserable income each month. The trick of course is to figure out what your target audience will like. It's not as easy as it might seem.

3. Ads About Free Stuff Do Better

Let's face it. When we go to a physical shop to get something, we expect to pay money for the goods we obtain. But when we go to a website, we bring with us a different mindset. We expect information, goods and services free of charge.

Because of this, advertisements about things that your visitors can obtain free will usually fare better than those about things that they have to pay money for.

If your affiliate program has free stuff on offer, try them out on your site to see how it performs.

4. Traffic is Everything

No visitors, no money. To have people clicking on your banners and taking up the offers given there, you need to work on the traffic going through your site. There's no substitute for this. No amount of fine-tuning of your advertisements is going to help you if you have only a few visitors going to your site each day.

Remember that not every visitor is going to click on your banner. (When was the last time you clicked on a banner on another site?) So to earn any income at all, you must generate enough traffic.

5. Content is King

I have seen many sites whose webmasters obviously decided that they'll make a quick buck by loading up their site with affiliate program links. Their site contains nothing but advertising links, along with comments that these are "fantastic offers", "great offers", "best" and what not. I'm sure you've seen those sites too.

If your site is like this, you should be aware that aggressive promotion may get you many visitors, but those visitors are unlikely to bookmark your site and return for more. There will be some (if not more) that will be so fed up that they won't even look at what you have to say.

My suggestion - your website must have genuine content. Unending lists of advertising links may fool some people, but not for long.

6. Credibility

Some advertisers tell you that you should personally recommend their products, and if you do so, the advertising link will do much better. True. But unless you yourself have used their product or service, and also agree that it is what *you* claim it to be, putting such a link can be counterproductive. There is a relationship of trust between you and your visitors. People start off generally believing what you say until you demonstrate that you're just a salesperson trying to make a quick buck. My recommendation is that if you don't really know much about a product, or have not tried it, do not pretend otherwise. Of course if you're using it yourself and think the world of it, by all means, recommend it.

Basically, just be honest. Believe it or not, honesty is the best business policy.

7. Text Links Vs Banners

You'll read on some sites that nowadays, text links fare better than banner links. Other sites claim that banners are coming into vogue again. I think that such blanket claims have to be qualified somewhat.

My experience is that text links that are part of the content of your site will generally do better than banners or other text links.

I used to think that text links that are not part of your site content need to be short and sharp in order to do well. However, I have seen some sites that have an elaborate long advertising copy for its link. The webmasters of such sites have apparently found that long stories like these work well for their type of audience. You may wish to do some testing on your own site to see which type of text advertising work for your audience.

As for banners, they seem to work fine on my site. The ones on the main pages tend to fare better since more people visit those than the sub-pages. As with all ads, the better targeted ones do best.

8. Rotation and Weeding

Always monitor your advertising statistics. If an advertisement does well initially, and its performance slowly drops over time, it is probably time to rotate that banner or button. If it remains too long on the page, people tend to stop seeing it. Sometimes you can prolong the life of the advertisement by simply using a different banner from the same advertiser (assuming they provide more than one banner).

Likewise, if an advertisement seldom has any takers, remove it. There are at least a couple of common reasons for this: the picture doesn't attract anyone to click on it (banners that are too wordy often have this deterrent effect); or your site's target audience is not interested in this type of service or product. Don't keep it around just because it has a high payout rate - what's the point of a high payout rate if no one ever takes it?

Above all, be patient. Keep working on improving your traffic and fine-tuning the ads that appear on your pages. After all, Rome was not built in a day.

Domain name

Before you rush out and choose your domain name or name your website, you might want to consider the following points:

1. Your Domain Name Should Be Your Website Name

Naming your site after your domain may seem obvious to some of you, but you'll be surprised to learn that not every website is named after the domain name even when the webmaster owns that domain name.

Naming a site after its domain name is important, for the simple reason that when people think of your website, they'll think of it by name. If your name is also your URL, they'll automatically know where to go. For example, when people think of thefreecountry.com, they don't have to wonder what URL to type into their browser to get there. The name of the site is also the URL.

Imagine if your business (or website) is called "Acme", but somebody else holds that domain name. Instead, you have some obscure domain name called, say, "mybusiness.com". What happens when your customers, recalling that Acme has a product they want, type "www.acme.com"? They'll wind up at your competitor's website. One lost sale.

In the modern world of the Internet, where people automatically turn to the Web for information, it pays to have a domain name that reflects your site or business. There are just lesser things for your customers or visitors to remember. Moreover, you don't seriously think that they'll try to memorise an unrelated URL just because you want them to, do you? The only people who'll memorise it are you and your competitors who want to compare your prices.

What if you cannot get the domain name of your choice? It really depends on how committed you are to that particular name. If you have an existing brand name that you're known for, you'll probably not want to ditch that name just because you couldn't get the domain name. After all, it took you a lot of time and money to establish that name. If so, you might simply want to try to buy over the domain name from the current owner. Check up the "whois" information for the domain, and contact that person listed to see if they're willing to sell it. You probably should be aware that they are likely to want to charge a higher fee than you'd normally get when buying new domains (assuming they want to sell it in the first place).

On the other hand, if you're just starting out, you might prefer the cheaper alternative of trying to obtain a domain name first, and then naming your website (or business) after the domain that you've acquired. So if you've acquired, say, the domain name "acme.com", then your website and business might be named "Acme" or "acme.com". I know this seems a bit like putting the cart before the horse, but that's the reality if you don't want to lose out on the Internet.

2. Generic Names Or Brand Name Domains?

I know that a number of people seem to think that your domain name really must be some generic name like "cars.com" if you are selling cars. Witness, for example, how much money those generic names are being sold for. But seriously, if you were looking for a car, you'll probably already have some brands in mind, and you're more like to try out things like generalmotors.com or toyota.com rather than just cars.com.

For that reason, I personally feel that a domain name that matches your brand name is very important. The very name that you use to advertise your product is the name that you will want for your domain, because that is the first thing that people will try in their browser. It is also the easiest thing for them to remember, and whatever that is easily remembered, will be more likely to be tried out than the obscure domain name.

3. Long or Short Domain Names?

Domain names can be of any length up to 67 characters. You don't have to settle for an obscure domain name like avab.com when what you mean is AcmeVideosAndBooks.com.

Having said that, there appears to be some disagreement about whether a long or short domain name is better.

Some argue that shorter domain names are easier to remember, easier to type and far less susceptible to mistakes: for example, "getit.com" is easier to remember and less prone to typos than "connecttomywebsiteandobtainit.com".

Others argue that a longer domain name is usually easier on the human memory - for example, "gaepw.com" is a sequence of unrelated letters that is difficult to remember and type correctly, whereas if we expand it to its long form, "GetAnEconomicallyPricedWebsite.com", we are more likely to remember the domain name.

Some of these arguments are actually academic. It's increasingly difficult to get short meaningful domain names. I have not checked, but I'm fairly certain that names like "getit.com" and "good.com" have long been sold. If you manage to get a short domain name though, the key is to make sure it's a meaningful combination of characters and not the obscure "gaepw.com" in our contrived example above.

Long domain names that have your site keywords in them also have an advantage in that they fare better in a number of search engines. The latter give preference to keywords that are also found in your domain names. So, for example, if you have a site on free C++ compilers with a domain name like freecpluspluscompilers.com, it might fare better in a search for "free C++ compilers" than my other site, thefreecountry.com.

Which would I go for? I'd go for the shorter name if I can get a meaningful one, but I'm not averse to longer names. However, I would probably avoid extremely long names verging on 67 characters. Aside from the obvious problem that people might not be able to remember such a long name, it would also be a chore typing it and trying to fit it as a title on your web page.

4. Hyphenated Names?

Should you get a hyphenated name? There are a few things to consider here:

a. Disadvantage: It's easy to forget the hyphens when typing a name. Many users are used to typing things like freecpluspluscompilers.com but not free-c-plus-plus-compilers.com. They'll probably leave out the hyphens and wind up at your competitor's site.

b. Disadvantage: When people recommend your site to their friends verbally, having hyphens in your domain name leads to more potential errors than when the name does not contain hyphens. For example, how do you think your visitors will refer to your site if it is named "acme-books-and-videos.com"? They might say, "I visited Acme Book and Videos dot com yesterday. It was fabulous." Their friends, remembering that comment later, might type into their browsers "acmebooksandvideos.com". Oops.

c. Disadvantage: It's a pain in the neck to type. Enough said.

d. Advantage: Search engines can distinguish your keywords better and thus return your site more prominently in search results for those keywords occurring in your domain name.

e. Advantage: The non-hyphenated form may no longer be available. At least this way, you still get the domain name you want.

Personally, I prefer to avoid hyphenated names if I can, but I guess it really depends on your domain name and your situation.

5. Plurals, "The", and "My" Forms of the Domain Name

Very often, if you can't get the domain name you want, the domain name registrar will suggest alternate forms of the name you typed. For example, if you wanted website.com, and it was taken (of course it is), it might suggest forms like:

thewebsite.com

mywebsite.com

websites.com

and the like, if they were not already taken as well. The question is, should you take them?

My personal opinion is that if you take the "the..." and "my..." forms of the domain name, you must always remember to promote your site with the full form of the name. Otherwise, people are likely to forget to affix the necessary "the" or "my". For that reason, I always advertise my sites as "thesitewizard.com" and "thefreecountry.com" in their full domain name forms, rather than just "Free Country" or "Site Wizard" (without the article).

On the other hand, I would not take the plural form of the domain name (eg, websites.com) if I cannot also get "website.com", since the chance of the visitor failing to type the "s" in the name is very great. Think about the famous name tussle between etoys.com and etoy.com. Many people wanting to go to etoys.com were apparently going to etoy.com instead. If it happened to them, it can happen to you too.

6. COM, ORG, NET, etc?

One common question I encounter is from people who can't get the ".com" domain of their choice, but find the ".net", ".org" or other country-specific top level domains (TLDs) available (like .de, .nu, .sg, etc). Should they try for these?

The answer is not as straightforward as you might think. If your website or business caters to the local community, such as a pizza delivery business or recruitment agency or the like, then it makes sense to get a country-specific domain. You actually benefit from having such a local domain because the people in your country know that they're dealing with a local entity, which is what they want. After all, if they stay in (say) the United Kingdom, they're not likely to want to try to order pizza from pizzaparlour.com, which suggests a US or an international site. You'd have better luck calling it pizzaparlour.co.uk, ie, with a UK domain.

What if yours is a site or business that can benefit from an international audience? There are actually many schools of thought on this. I'll just mention a few common ones.

The first school of thought goes on the premise that it is better to have a domain name of your choice "myperfectdomain" even if it has a TLD of ".net", ".org" or some other country specific extension, than to wind up choosing an obscure domain name for the simple reason you can't get your first choice. Thus they would settle for domain names like "myperfectdomain.de" or "myperfectdomain.net" or whatever. Against this is the argument that if you get a country specific domain, people might think that your business only caters to that country.

Another school of thought finds that ".net" and ".org" extensions are actually quite acceptable domain names. For some, the ".org" extension actually describes the non-profit nature of their organisation. So, for example, the famous Apache web server can be found at "apache.org".

Others would settle for the ".com" extension and no less. As grounds for their arguments, they cite the browser algorithms used to locate a website when a user simply types a name like "acme" into the browser. Apparently, the browser searches for a domain name "acme.com" before attempting "acme.net", etc. As such, people who do that will be delivered to your competitor's site if you do not also own the ".com" extension. Indeed, even if people do not rely on their browser to complete their typing, many simply assume a ".com" extension when they type a domain name, so if your business is "Acme", they'll just assume your domain name is "acme.com" rather than "acme.net" or some other such name.

As you can see, there are actually good grounds for accepting any of the above views. My personal footnote to the above arguments is that if you get a domain name with an extension other than ".com", make sure that you promote your business or website with the full domain name. For example, if your domain name is "dogandcatfood.net", make sure that when you advertise your site or business, call it "dogandcatfood.net" not "dogandcatfood". Otherwise people will assume a ".com" extension and travel to the wrong place.

7. In Conclusion...

In case the forest got lost in the trees (or the reverse) in my arguments here, let me reiterate the main point of this article: GET THAT DOMAIN NAME before you start your site or business.

Don't make the mistake of attempting to retrofit your domain name to your business or website. thefreecountry.com did not originally start out with that name, and I encountered a huge hassle (and lost visitors) as a result of the URL changes (I'll tell you about it in another article). Don't make that mistake too.

Set some financial goals - your goals don't have to be big but you need to focus on what you really want. Your goals will be influenced by your age, your family commitments and your financial situation. You may want to control your debts, buy a new car, have enough for a deposit on a home, or be ready to retire in comfort. It doesn't matter what your goals are, what is important is that you have some. See Budgeting.

Work out your budget - working out your budget does not have to be complicated and will help you take charge of your money. Knowing where your money comes from and where it goes is a good staring point towards reaching your goals.

Everybody who does a budget and keeps it up to date sees how it pays off. If you are spending more than you earn, a budget can show you where you might be able to save money.

If you have money left over, you might be able to make better use of it. Write down all of your income and expenses, subtract one from the other to see if you are spending more than you earn. See Budget planner.

Get into the savings habit - the secret to successful saving is simple. Start now. Even a small amount saved regularly can really make a difference and help you reach your goals.

Avoid Scams

What you must realise is that 98% of money making schemes available on the internet are frauds, so be very careful.

Do you really believe that you can sit at home, in your pyjamas and have money flowing into your bank account after working only a few hours per week?

Whether it is real estate investing, selling by classified ads, stock market investing, internet affiliate marketing, buying a book or course on creating your own internet business, or something equally appealing, we have all seen the fantastic claims that have been made about making tons of money and how they can show you how to do the same!

The strange fact is most people know these claims are fraudulent, and yet they still buy the product believing that they will be the ones that persevere and actually make money!!

I know for a fact because I was one of those people!

I had fallen for several of these schemes years ago. I do not know why, but I tend to find the ‘good’ in people and I was “sold” by these schemes several times.

Finally I witnessed, what I consider a similar incident happen to a pensioner I knew (She was told she had won money on a lottery she had never even participated in), and this caused her great distress.

Once I started my quest, I found that many of the owners of ‘the sites’ were equally duped by the thoughts of dollar signs flashing and many of them boasted about how many people bought into their useless programs.

Moreover, when I researched the sites in depth I repeatedly found:

Non working links

No help section to speak of

Zero customer service

No real products, just forms of pyramid selling

Outdated information

After a short time I was able to spot most of the Scams straight away and the rest after some further ‘digging’.

However my faith in people has been restored to some extent, as sifting through all the rubbish I do occasionally come across an individual who runs a legitimate program and who will help his members (providing they are prepared to work!!).

Their membership areas were impressive and they have quality information on how to make $100-$200 per day on your home computer, with very little up-front knowledge.

In some cases I chatted to customers in online forums and

I was pleased to hear that they were able to make money with the schemes!

These programs and courses do charge fees for access, which is to be expected from a legitimate company that actually has staff and resources dedicated to helping you start up. Some programs charge a very small fee ($20-$30), but do take a cut from whatever you make (this always installs confidence!!).

If you do decide to buy, or have bought, a work from home program, and then feel you have wasted your money, please do not despair, check out the sites I have listed below and you will be pleasantly rewarded,

On a slightly amusing note, the second program listed, I did not even bother to investigate because of the very ‘cheesy’ name of the company. However a customer requested we investigate (using our request service), and contrary to what I had thought, the system is actually very good! Loathe as I am to admit this, I now actually use this system myself to generate extra income (what a hypocrite I feel!!)

Please if you are interested in any of the listed programs, do join them quickly as they are growing rapidly and memberships do have a cut-off point due to various factions, one being the support staff being stretched very thinly.

I hope after reading this article you will realise that finding and joining any non-researched Get Rich Quick program found on the Internet is a gamble and I strongly advise you take no chances and respect our findings!

How to prevent internet scams

Introduction

Nearly everyone who uses the Internet has seen some form of "the Nigerian scam," also known as "advance fee fraud," in which you receive an unsolicited email claiming that the sender has some financial situation that requires you to help and make money by paying an upfront fee. Unfortunately, these scams are only a few of the countless opportunities on the Internet for "bad guys" to separate us from our money.
Instructions

Step One

Learn to recognize fraudulent offers online. For example, many "work at home" and "data entry" schemes promise that the recipient can make large amounts of money but do not mention all the costs involved. Such scams can often be recognized by their garishly colored web sites and flamboyant promises, for example, "Earn $1,000 a day!" They show claim after claim from "satisfied customers" and even show screen captures of income statements that don't show the costs involved. Once the investor has gotten hooked by investing money in the product, the buyer then is encouraged to take on additional expenses by investing in an expensive website.

Step Two

Use the Federal Trade Commission consumer complaint form to submit a complaint to the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection about a particular company or organization. The information you provide is up to you. It's not necessary to provide your name, but if you don't provide your name or other information, it may be impossible for the Bureau to respond to or investigate the complaint or request.

Step Three

Look up the business with the Better Business Bureau, which also accepts complaints about misleading advertising, failure to deliver goods or services, identity theft and other consumer complaints. Complaints can be filed online.

Step Four

Check out ScamBusters, a valuable online resource on the latest scams and how to protect yourself against them and report them.

Look up the NFIC website that lists the offices of attorneys general in every state as well as links to other useful government agency sites.
Tips & Warnings

The FTC does not resolve individual problems, but complaints help investigate fraud. Internet, telemarketing, identity theft and other such complaints are passed along to a database available to civil and criminal law enforcement agencies.

Turnkey website

Turnkey websites are in fact ready made Websites . With a turnkey website you not only get the website layout but also the content and usually also affiliate programs plugged in! All you need to do is sit back and collect the cash?

Turnkey Websites - Pros and Cons

So what are turnkey websites are they a get rich quick scheme trick? Well I think mainly yes.

Do they have good points?- They certainly do and when used appropriately could be very useful. Most appear to come from one of two angles-

Offer the punter a get rich quick scheme at a high price. It fails they win.
Or as an extension of an affiliate program where the seller has a product that, although it may be in demand, has high competition and looks for ways of making it easy for people to sell the product.
The second form has merit and is worthy of consideration. They are in fact just moving the affiliate process a little further on. However; remember what all good affiliate programs have in common ! - they are free to join.

Paid Turnkey Websites

So you pay for a turnkey website from Company X - it costs $300 per year and it promotes products from company X. You don't know what you are doing you fail !- Who wins? ---Company X

OK same scenario but it's a success who wins?-- both of you. It costs company X nothing in either case and they make money in either case. They have really no incentive to help you succeed as they make money anyway.

Free Turnkey Websites

You get a free turnkey website from Company X - it costs nothing and it promotes products from company X. You don't know what you are doing you fail !- Who wins? ---No one

OK same scenario but it's a success who wins?-- both of you. It costs Neither you nor company X in either case and both only make money if you succeed. They now have a real incentive to help you succeed or they make no money!

This is in effect an affiliate program and so should be treated as such. If you are going to get into turnkey websites then this is the group I would recommend to start.

Turnkey Website Success Rates

Despite what the ad says not all turnkey websites make money. In fact in writing this article I was unable to find anyone offering turnkey websites who quoted a success rate for their customers.

Now that isn't really hard to do. They now how many webmasters took out a package and they know how much they earned in a year and they know how many stayed in business and how long.

Now if you were selling a turnkey business were 80 out of 100 people who purchased it stayed in business and made $x would you not boast a little in your promotion.

As someone who once did jury service told me -It's not what the defence lawyer says as what he doesn't say that is important. If he says M'laud the defendant is of good character and has never been in trouble before then -its true. If he fails to mention it then----

This may all sound that I'm trying to disparage turnkey websites- I'm not. I just want to warn you to proceed with extreme caution in this area . I personally would categorise turnkey websites with the business opportunity market where the same advice holds true.

Internet scams

The Internet is awash with money making scams. The general rule I always follow is that if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

The most common ones involving websites involve turnkey websites or sometimes sold as niche websites. Before you invest any money in an online business you should always do some research.

Basic Research
What I always do myself is.

To search Google and Yahoo for the company and any related information looking for good/bad reports.

Ask myself some questions -

If I knew about this would I tell everyone about it?
How do they make money from this?
How do they benefit by telling me?
If it is really so easy why aren't they doing it themselves.
Visit http://www.ripoffreport.com and search their database

Wait a few weeks before making any decision.

Make sure I can cancel at any time.

Final Thought

If you discovered a Goose that could lay Golden eggs would you tell everyone about it? If the goose had little geese that could do the same would you sell them?

On that vain the other day I came across a company offering turnkey websites guaranteed to make over $1000 per month if not 10 times my money back. The ad said they were already up online and making that money.

My investment was something like $100 per month. A real no brainer my profit $900 per month! ---Easy Money!

Seriously if you had a website earning $1000 per month would you sell it for $100 per month.

You can make money on the Internet but you will have to work at it. No one is going to give or sell you an Internet money machine- they are going to keep it for themselves!

Pyramid schemes

A pyramid scheme is a fraudulent investing plan that has unfortunately cost many people worldwide their hard-earned savings. The concept behind the pyramid scheme is simple and should be easy to identify; however, it is often presented to potential investors in a disguised or slightly altered form. For this reason, it is important to not only understand how pyramid schemes work, but also to be familiar with the many different shapes and sizes they can take.

The Scheme
As its name indicates, the pyramid scheme is structured like a pyramid. It starts with one person - the initial recruiter - who is on top, at the apex of the pyramid. This person recruits a second person, who is required to "invest" $100 which is paid to the initial recruiter. In order to make his or her money back, the new recruit must recruit more people under him or her, each of whom will also have to invest $100. If the recruit gets 10 more people to invest, this person will make $900 with just a $100 investment.

The 10 new people become recruiters and each one is in turn required to enlist an additional 10 people, resulting in a total of 100 more people. Each of those 100 new recruits is also obligated to pay $100 to the person who recruited him or her; recruiters get a profit of all of the money received minus the initial $100 paid to the person who recruited them. The process continues until the base of the pyramid is no longer strong enough to support the upper structure (meaning there are no more recruits).



The Fraud
The problem is that the scheme cannot go on forever because there is a finite number of people who can join the scheme (even if all the people in the world join). People are deceived into believing that by giving money they will make more money ("with an investment of just $100, you will receive $900 in return"). But no wealth has been created; no product has been sold; no investment has been made; and no service has been provided.

The fraud lies in the fact that it is impossible for the cycle to sustain itself, so people will lose their money somewhere down the line. Those who are most vulnerable are those towards the bottom of the pyramid, where it becomes impossible to recruit the number of people required to pay off the previous layer of recruiters. This kind of fraud is illegal in the Unites States and most countries throughout the world. It is estimated that 90% of people who get involved in a pyramid scheme will lose their money.

Fraud Disguised
Because people are attracted to the idea of making a quick buck with very little effort, many different forms of disguised pyramid schemes have succeeded in fooling people. Despite the illusion of legality presented by these revamped schemes, they are still illegal. It is thus important to recognize the characteristics of such so-called investment plans.

Many schemes will adopt the guise of gift-giving or loans that take place in investment clubs because none of these activities are technically illegal. However, the practice of donating a gift (tax free up to $10,000 in the U.S.) to someone (the recruiter), then having to recruit people into the club in order to receive a return on your investment (or your gift, rather) is essentially a pyramid scheme in disguise.

Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)
Legal multi-level marketing (MLM) involves being recruited in order to sell a product or service that actually has some inherent value. As a recruit, you can make a profit from the sales of the product or service, so you don't necessarily have to recruit more salespeople below you. And while you may be encouraged to recruit other salespeople whose sales would give you more profit, you can stick to just selling the product directly to the consumer if you choose.

A pyramid scheme MLM, however, will most likely sell a product with no independent value. The product could take the form of reports of some kind, for example, or mailing lists. In this kind of pyramid scheme, you would be required to recruit new members into the MLM in order to make a profit and keep the MLM alive. Joining the MLM is the only reason anyone would buy the products sold by this pyramid scheme.

Ponzi Schemes
Named after Charles Ponzi, who ran such a plot from 1919-1920, the Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment plan. It is not necessarily a pyramid, which is hierarchical. In a Ponzi scheme, there is one person who takes people's money as an "investment" and does not necessarily tell them how their returns will be generated. As such, the people's return on investment could be generated by anything; it could come from money taken from new investors - which means new investors essentially pay off the old investors - or even from money made by gambling in Las Vegas.

Chain Letters
Chain letters can be received electronically or through snail mail and are not illegal on their own. However, they take on the form of a pyramid scheme when the letter asks you to donate a certain amount of money (even just $0.05) to the people on a list, then delete the name of the first person on the list, add your name, and forward the letter to a certain number of other people. The next people receiving the letter are then asked to do the same thing, so that you can receive your money as well. By forwarding the letter, you are asking people to give money with the promise of making money.

Conclusion
It is easy to see how a pyramid scheme can work, but participating in it (regardless of the form in which it is presented) involves deception and fraud because not everyone will receive the money that is promised in return.

As with any other investment plan you consider entering, it is important to ask the right questions. How will this money be invested? What is the rate of return? Who will be investing it? Talk to professionals and do your research before placing your money anywhere. And always remember that if a plan promises you'll get rich quick with no risk or doesn't tell you how your money will be invested, you should raise a red flag and exercise caution before getting on board.

Earning without a website

Making a Website involves considerable time, effort and dedication and is certainly not for everyone. You can't expect to be making money from day one with a Website. If it is your first Website you can expect to wait around 3-6 months before you are ready to make money.

Why is it traffic so important...

Well duh!! Traffic is everything if you are making money with your website.. no traffic no money..

So how this is going to be done?

What is traffic?
Traffic means number of people visiting your website..
The higer the traffic is, the higher the possibility that the person would click your google ads are high. WOW!!! KA-CHING!

There are two types of way to increase your traffic.. first is using man power.. second is using will power..

Man Power
It doesn't mean you really uses "man" power... haha.. This kind of way/method to incrase traffic is to by involving money($$$), and it also actually means you pay people to help you to get your website become more popular. It is the fastest and most effective at the moment...

Some company like google adwords, they offer website owners their services. They help the website owners to advertise their websites.. in return owners have to pay them back ofcourse..

And that is when google adsense exist! (Learn how to earn money with google adsense.) Now, google giving another website owner(us) another opportunity. They are paying us for helping google to advertise the websites that are being asked to advertise through google network ...
Conclusion, those who are adsense user - we work with google company. We help google to advertise, meaning we are helping the original website owner to advertise. And ofcourse, the advertisement will be done through our own website(like mine). We get money for helping!

So the amount money you get depends on how many people click on your ads from google. For example:- my google ads gives me cash if you click it.. But do remember, dont click your own ads, thats violating rules!(Read here about how to get better clicks) That is why traffic is so important!

You have a world library, the business section is as big as a football stadium and books on "starting your own business online" are in the thousands (including many misleading ones).

- This final point is the most important one. People want to believe there is an easy way to get a lot of web traffic and make a fortune without any work; they just have to find it! This is just human nature.

So know you know that you must use more than one internet marketing method to make your online business successful.

Want to earn through blogging

I started blogging about 9 months ago, back then I didn’t even knew what to blog about, but then my cousin told me that I could earn uber amounts of cash via blogging…and I learned that it was not an easy task for a newbie freelance blogger like myself to be a Pro-blogger ( which is Professional blogger getting paid online) so it’s not only about blogging about what I like, it’s about thinking of ways how I can earn by blogging and actually having fun doing it.

Well first of all I started first on focusing on the important part… What is a blog? we all know what a blog is… we could say that it is a collection of your thoughts and ideas written in a conversational manner on every article that has a bit of your personality stamped in it.

What to blog about? depends on what the type of blog you want to represent… if you want your blog to technical then write about technical stuffs write about Windows Vista or Firefox, or about new gadgets and newly discovered technologies or a gaming blog then write about new releases of games new, cheats, walkthroughs and such on the hottest consoles on the market such as Wii, PS3, PS2, Xbox 360,Nintendo DS, PSP and such.

And then focus on making people come to your site and read your articles which is better than earning money through blogging. I was asked a question how to earn through blogs, well, based on my experience I started blogging through Payperpost, Blogsvertise , which are good for startup bloggers (but remember your blogsite must have at least 10 posts or more to be accepted) and Sponsoredreviews. Check these sites out if you get accepted you can earn as much as $10-20 per post.

Aside from that getting a break by being asked to blog at Xboxdream, PCExtreme, Gadzooki, and Blog-Tutorials which has been a steady flow income and I’m thankful for that.

Earning through blogging is very hard and may take a while if you don’t have the commitment and time, you won’t last a month just blogging for a living… after all success doesn’t come overnight. I wanted to quit blogging dozens of times because I wasn’t earning enough to live a normal life… hehehe…there are lots of ways to earn via blogging… here are some on them.
